A Giant Walking Amongst Us

by Whitney Michel

I've always had a deep fascination with men who move with confidence. I viewed them as heroes. Individuals who deserved to be celebrated, seen, and admired.

Since starting the MM blog nearly 17 years ago, as a senior at Parsons, I've come to know that this man is real. I've seen him walking through cities. On sets. In films. I've recognized him in the men who have influenced my own life.

There's always been something different about the way he moves. A giant walking among us.

This MM vision has never simply been about creating beautiful clothes. Although I find profound joy in making pieces I believe are powerful, and my mind constantly races toward everything I have yet to create. The vision has always been greater than the clothes themselves.

It's about building a world around this man. One that allows him to move through his own world more freely, more powerfully.

This year, I made a promise to myself: despite my fear of vulnerability, I would bring The MM Diary fully into the world. And I would do so in a way that truly celebrates these men.

As you read, I hope you recognize glimpses of him in yourself. Because behind every great mind is a decision to pursue greatness, every single day.

Nearly two years after first reaching out to entrepreneur Anderson Noël, I've finally brought The MM Diary back to life.

What follows is a conversation about what he believes, the experiences that have shaped him, and the vulnerability that inspired me to tell his story.
